Paris is a city brimming with history, culture, and art. It’s no wonder that it’s often called the City of Lights! If you’re lucky enough to have a day to explore this wonderful city, here’s a suggested itinerary to make the most of your time.

Morning

Start your day with a typical Parisian breakfast of a café au lait and croissant. Sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful morning view of Paris.

Then, head to the world-famous Eiffel Tower. You can take the elevator to the top for stunning views of Paris or enjoy a leisurely stroll through the surrounding park.

If you’re up for more walking, take a walk along the Seine River to get a different perspective of the city.

Finally, stop at Notre Dame Cathedral and grab some photos while you’re there.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, stop by a cafe to rest your feet, people-watch, and enjoy a delicious lunch of French cuisine in one of the city’s many restaurants. Order the plat de jour and a glass of wine for lunch. The plat de jour is a traditional day dish and varies from restaurant to restaurant.

Next, head to the Louvre Museum to see some of the world’s most famous paintings, like the Mona Lisa. You can also admire some of the world’s most impressive sculptures and artifacts. My favorite paintings are the Last Super and the Winged Victory of Samothrace.

Take a walk or hop on the metro to the Arc de Triomphe, a monument celebrating Napoleon Bonaparte’s achievements. After that, you can go shopping (or window shopping!) on the Champs Élysées.

You can end the afternoon at a café for a late afternoon pick-me-up drink because the night is still young!

Evening

No trip to Paris would be complete without exploring Montmartre, the hilltop neighborhood with some of the best views in Paris. Stroll through the cobblestone streets and explore Sacré-Coeur Basilica.

The Moulin Rouge is a must-visit if you have time. It’s the birthplace of French cabaret and offers an unforgettable night of entertainment.

While in Montmartre, enjoy a fabulous dinner at one of the many restaurants in the area, then head over to catch a show at this world-famous cabaret club.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something a little more low-key, take a romantic Seine River dinner cruise and enjoy the lights of Paris.

Finally, end your night with cocktails in one of the many bars that line the streets and conversate with the locals as you get a true sense of this fantastic city.

If the bars in Montmartre are not your style, you can explore other areas like The Latin Quarter, The Marais, or the trendy 10th Arrondissement.

As night falls, be sure to check out the Parisian nightlife! Dance the night away at a nightclub or enjoy live music at one of the many bars and cafes.

Paris is an incredible city with so much to see and do. This one-day itinerary covers some of the highlights, but remember, there is no wrong way to explore Paris. Just relax and enjoy everything this beautiful city has to offer!
